Sometimes people tell me they think I’m brave. Brave for leaving the 9 to 5 behind. Brave for moving to the other side of the world. I really appreciate these kind words but believe me, doing all these things doesn’t mean I’m not scared.
Every time I make a big decision, or do something new, I’m terrified. I’m not just talking about moving to Bali or quitting my job. Meeting new people, a call with a new client, heck what about a tinder date?!
All things that can freak me out and really causing me to feel fear.
But you know what? Fear is just an emotion, its not you nor is it something you should base your decisions on.
I think accepting that fear is a feeling just like any other, happiness, sadness, and anger, is one of the biggest things you can do for yourself.
In a way fear is even a good thing, its a sign that you’re about to do something really brave
You can train yourself to accept fear by doing little things that might feel uncomfortable, whatever that might be.
By doing things that scare you or make you feel uncomfortable you train your mind to accept fear as a normal emotion. You basically get used to it and after doing these things a few times you will realize most of your fears are irrational.
Do what scares you until it doesn’t, right?
What are you scared of?
