I cant believe you’re telling people you dont need an international lisence! If they dont have one and are injured or heaven forbid killed, they will not be covered by their travel insurance. Medical care in bali is not cheap! Terrible advice guys.

if there is a box between the plug in point and the appliance, that is the power converter like the fat part on a magsafe or the fat part halfway along the cord of a normal laptop. Hair dryers and hairstragtners, shavers, toaster etc do not have these you will need a converter.

We dont know for sure about trash on bali,
Donald trump will built residence on bali & many people hate it, may be that trash are corporation made for competition resort business. Or from donald trump & HT itselft throw trash there for down resort revenue right now and trump perharp their resort got high revenue than rival today when trump residence launch in the next few year.
I don’t know but there’s news headline said indonesia imported trash from vietnam, etc, as we know hary Tanoe are political partner with jokowi.
There are many beach as gorgeous as bali / lombok in gunung kidul yogyakarta, togian island sulawesi, karimunjawa island north central java and no trump or elite developer there.
First, all of you should know that photo & video is just camera lens product so it depend the quality of your camera.
Second, all scenery depend on current weather, season, and lighting from the sun. For indonesia if you want best green trees, grass, blue skys, and good condition for travelling is the first season after raining season, trees, grass still green, skys blue, etc. So if you visit indonesia on the raining season or dry season off course its not too good.
We all know foreign tourist love remotes island with less of crowd, Indonesia have ton of island out there, but less local crowd mean no one will help you at all and thats mean you should travel on right season. And for indonesia best season for travelling should on end of raining season.
Yogyakarta New Airport (YIA) will start launch on early Q1 2020 and in october 2019 YIA will operate most of major flight from old adi sucipto yogya airport. Several flight is now available direct lombok-yogyakarta.
There are many insane travel spot, incredible gorgeous as bali / lombok. Search it on google:
1. All beach on gunung kidul yogyakarta: indrayanti, wedi ombo, ngrawe, sadranan, etc.
2. Karang sambung hill, kebumen, central java.
3. Batu raden, gunung slamet, & several cave at purwokerto, central java.
4. Green canyon, pangandaran, west java.
5. Dieng & wonosobo, central java.
6. Karimunjawa island, north-central java.
Etc.

I live in Bali part time. Just read the Sanur weekly. You MUST have an international driver’s license AND a motorbike license from your own country when renting a motorbike in Bali. If you do not have these and you have an accident, your travel insurance will not work and your hospital bills will be huge. Instead…..use a taxi or Gojek and do not even rent a motorbike.
ItsBrendy M
Yey! Thanks for the very helpful tips, will be going to Bali next year. 🥰

Awesome video guys. Wish I had seen this before I went to Bali. Some really great advice on what to bring and not to bring. The tourist motorcycle comment is really accurate. I felt they were more dangerous and reckless then anything I ever saw in Thailand by far. No fear , no respect and no kindness on the road. Completely different to Thailand. 👍

-i dont use bug spray, a bit of unnecessary poisons that effect you and the beautiful land thats gifting you on your travels, try lavender+lemongrass essential oils in some coconut oil
-and natural deodorant – same goes as with the bug spray, aerosols are poisonous
happy natural travels to all that read this- we are the generation of change that has to act on it and lead by example,,,so we cant enjoy these magic places in the future

I’ve travelled around the world. Bali is the most dishonest place where i’ve suffered unprecedented levels of harassment on the streets.
Be extremely cautious and vigilant here and read about all the known scams they run there, Ignore all the people trying to sell you drugs they are working in conjunction with the corrupt police force to force you to bribe your way out of a situation.
Download the bluebird taxi app and just try to stay calm when 50 taxi drivers try to rip you off each day.
Ignore all the crappy souvineer shops, they have no price tags with the purpose of trying to rip you off and pressure you into making a purchase. Stick with upmarket shops in areas like Ubud.
Be advised that when you book a tour the price advertised is *only* travel cost and they will ask you for additional admission fees and costs which can double the advertised price.
From the moment you land to the moment you are leaving the Island people are trying to prey on you. Ignore people in the airport under the guise of officials, the whole Island is a scam. Don’t let airport porters near your luggage when you are leaving (another scam).
Overall Bali has incredible beauty marred by all the thieves and opportunists that live and work there. Be warned if you are a person who likes peace and doesn’t like being touched and harassed this place is *NOT* for you.
John Herbert
Nice one recommending the Ben’s repellent.
Mosquitoes, Leeches and tics as do not like deet. As a vector for pathogens, what they individually carry can go unknown and influence any aspect of your body long after you’ve been bitten.
Tbh fuck any idiot that says to not use DEET because of big pharma.

I avoid anything wth DEET in it. It is simply harmful for us. It is better to use natural fluids without DEET. Try to find it behind the adverts of Big farma online in your country. Furthermore I saw Natracare hygienics for the ladies. Not cheap maybe but it is organic and thus poisonfree as well. Much better for the environment and better for your health. The skin will absorb the pescticides in the regular products. Be aware of what you use! Use also an organic deodorant. Especially free of aluminium. Aluminium is found in the brain in high rates of people with autism and dementia! Every little bit counts………

Sari for Saia
I enjoy your video but I think it’s a bit unfair to title this video as “BALI” , you only cover the touristy spots like Canggu and Seminyak.
Bali is way bigger than that, we have malls that have lotsss of optics, drug stores, supermarkets and such (Denpasar, Sunset Road/Kuta). Ask locals around they will tell you how to get products you are referring , may not be as much as in the States but not as limited as you mentioned. Bali is not just Canggu.
But good video overall, thank you for reviewing.

How can lens be hard to find? I can pretty much walk to any glasses stores (optic stores) and buy my contacts just like that. Bali also has those also, to be certain just go to the nearest malls. Plenty of brands, plenty of lens powers and plenty of colors!
Compared to the Netherlands, I (almost always) can’t just walk to the store and buy. I have to have my eyes checked first by the opticians and order one and wait for a week. This happened when I asked a simple colorless contacts 🤷🏻♀️

Thanks for making this! Do they have a ton of checkpoints for international licenses? We are on the road for 2 years so idk how we would get an international license while traveling so we may have to risk it while there!

It’s the same thing here in Kenya, sunscreen is expensive compared to the US. Ouch, those mosquito bites look painful. Haha, I felt like saying us too in almost everything you mentioned. We have dry stick deodorants but they are so few especially the ladies options. Few specific places and locations have them. Same case to tampons… That’s a story for another day. Learned the hard way to carry and wear wet shoes in River Jordan. My feet hurt so much from the rocks.

nice job with this one guys! you pretty much nailed it! i will say thought that although the bens bug spray is a lot stronger, Deet is one of the most harmful chemicals put in products so just be super careful with that stuff. 🙈also panadol is just Australia’s version of Tylenol (: its the same thing but a different brand.

interesting video, good info! we found SPF 50 sunscreen for around 4-5 USD in Ubud, but I imagine it depends on where you’re shopping. also I usually get destroyed by mosquitos but I got zero bites, could be the season. cheers!

For anyone going to bali I would reccomend you respect their culture too and wear a shirt when appropriate (most places apart from the beaches). Don’t be that disrespectful/ignorant tourist walking down main street bare chested. Many humble Balinese will find this offensive..
Candra Lyons
I was there a month and panicked when my BUGSPRAY didn’t arrive but the local brand worked just fine for us. We went to many places in Indonesia and this list is perfect. One thing I didn’t do and wish I had was research earthquake safety. I never been in one before and I had no idea what to do. Thanks for the great list!

Even if they didn’t ask you for an international driving license, please know how to drive properly and responsibly…. there are always some kind of commotion on the streets when motorbike renters can’t drive properly. ALWAYS use a shirt when driving a motorbike here, not only will you get a sunburn, but its kind of disrespecting the Balinese culture as well.

Good recommendations and I’m also traveling with my Thai wife. Bali is mostly soft adventure but if you venture further off the beaten path I recommend mosquito nets, sleeping hammocks, GPS watch/device and a medical kit containing epipens, antibiotics, electrolytes, bandages, etc. All have played a vital part in various scenarios we have gotten ourselves into.
Benjamin Du
appreciate the tips! I wish you guys would use mineral sunscreen though instead of banana boat, and lemon eucalyptus oil (PMD) bug repellent instead of DEET. Those are comparable in effectiveness and much better for yourself and for the planet.

Mate this days Bali got everything not like 30 years ago!! Don’t have to pack to much.otherways u will have problems with the customes. Stuff like what we wear in the west will be very expensive.such as suncream.tempon u can go to big supermarket in Kuta they sale everything they allot cheaper.u have to be smart shopping look around .😜😜😜😜

Another great video, guys. Just to set the record straight about the “bug repellent” products, I have a BS and a MS degrees both in microbiology and I assure you, they do not protect against Malaria, etc. They protect against bites from mosquitos, ticks, fleas, etc and THEY are what is harboring the bacteria, parasites, and viruses that cause numerous illnesses. If one of them was to “bite” you even if you had the product on, you could still get infected, but they are not very likely to want to use you as a blood meal with it on your skin. Companies will use any statement, no matter how misleading, to sell their products.

Hi, this is really helpful – thanks. You’re such a sweet couple. How did you meet? I’m going to Bali with my two daughters next week and we’re staying for 3 weeks, although my eldest daughter is staying an extra 10 days by herself. We’ve not been before and would love recommendations on where to stay in terms of regions. I’m 55 and daughters are 16 and 27. We won’t be hiring motorbikes or mopeds as we’ve never driven these before and don’t want to learn in a foreign country, especially when the rules are very different and seemingly scarce. We’ll walk, hire bicycles, and use Gojek, Grab, Bluebird or whatever it is that you recommend to use there. We’ve rented a private villa with its own pool in Ubud (Penestann) for the for 10 days, but we’re not sure where to go for the next 11 days. We don’t want to go to too many different places – just one or two more – so I was thinking of Gili Air for 3/4 nights, then maybe a different area of Ubud (maybe north) or even another place in Bali. My eldest daughter will go to Canggu for the rest of the time and maybe stay in a hostel or a homestay. We might do sea walking, but none of us have snorkelled before, and I’m not really a good swimmer (I’m also shit scared of sharks), so water sports is not for me. We will go dolphin watching to Lovina though (dolphins are 🥰 but sharks are 😬). However, I’ve heard that there’s not much to do or see in Gili Air and that it’s better to go to Lombok mainland, although there’s no public transport there and we’d need a scooter, which we don’t want. Which part of Bali do you suggest for the rest of our stay in Bali? We like jungle area with a mix of nature and local life. I know it’s probably late to rent good places, but I’ve heard it’s better (and cheaper) to find places once you’re there and only book somewhere to stay initially. Sorry for the essay, and thanks for your advice and suggestions. Hugs from the UK and Germany! 🤗

100% with you on the dry stick deo, I take a dozen with me.
I hate that wet deo too (we call it roll-on in uk).

Always bring sunscreen, aloe vera gel, probiotics from home. I buy the Sofell mosquito repellant. Always bring contact lens solution from home. You can buy the spray deodorants in Bali if that’s what you were talking about. Matahari supermarket and Carrefour have them. Axe brand which is same as Lynx. Guardian pharmacy was the best place to get tampons.

As a person who travels to Bali frequently and has western and Indonesian friends on the island. You are spot on. You need to bring sunscreen (too damn expensive there), bug repellent, stomach medicine (e.g. Pepto), ibuprofen, and aftersun cream. Also, I would add make sure you have enough clothes because trying to find shorts or swim trunks that fit properly in Indonesia is next to impossible (same for good sandals). Jimmy and Tah, I love your videos and hope you will continue to make more.
BayAreaBlues
Back in the day, before there were electronic everything, the most important thing for me to pack was books. Travelling through SE Asian, my pack was half books, because you never knew when you would be able to find a good bookstore (remember those?), let alone one with a good English book section. Sure, every hostel had book swaps, but they were usually crappy books – I’m not really into romance novels. So I usually had 4-5 books in my bag. This came in handy when I messed up my back playing soccer with local kids in Surabaya, Java. I spent 5 days laying on my back, and read 5 books in that time. Now, you can have a whole library and video store in your phone! Kids today. Ya got it so easy!! 😉

I love your videos they have been my go-to for planning my upcoming trip to Bali. If i could bother you for some help, I would really appreciate it. I’ll be staying in Bali for a month and know I’ll need to rent a motor scooter to get around without hiring a private driver everyday as money is a huge factor. Problem is I’ve never driven or rode in one before, do you think it’s too risky to learn in Bali? Any advice helps. Y’all are awesome, can’t wait for your next video! 🙂
