this is true in Mexico as well not so long ago there was no plastic everything that wrapped up food and transported it was organic and disposable with no real environmental harm done…plastic poured on to the scene so strong and fast, it has double and doubled in one time use….this is a great video, Thanks

They just saved probably more then a hundred sea animals from being injured or killed by the trash. I wish other people would in general just throw trash in the can its not that hard…

I enjoy pickup up stuff along the beach as well. Every time I do somewhere, land, seaside, mountain, etc, I make it a point to pick up trash and recycling. Thank you for taking the time and effort to help clean up the world and make the great video for precious plastic. I plan on making a plastics shredder sooner than later and using the results to make things that are useful.

Hi Dave,
Your Micro machine project is well suited to local communities harvesting local plastic waste. Once collected, sorted and shredded, I see products like roofing tiles and paving bricks as very suitable, large volume solutions.

Hi Dave!

Thank you Dave. We all know change begins with individuals. So, thank you for your passion and commitment. I think its also important to point out that for many Indonesians, it is not for a lack of respect their home/environment that has spread this ‘habit’; along with traditions of past (natural, biodegradable utensils etc.). As many of us know, theories such as those related to ‘Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs’ has taught us that for people such as Indonesians, the ability/motivation to care for the environment when basic physiological needs are not there, is understandable. If correct, the World Bank deems 40% of Indonesians live around the poverty line; that number higher on the island of Bali. Along with this, exploitation of tourism by government and big business has caused degradation.
I think though, many Balinese have incredible pride for their land and appreciate its beauty and the opportunities it brings for them and their families. As always, education is key and I believe emphasising this fact will help benefit and secure the environment; its natural beauty and with it, opportunities and economic growth for the Balinese for the future.

Hi! I love your job, I have seen a lot of your videos and I’m kind of inspired! I’m from Venezuela and right now we are having or it is noticing more our problem with plastic and waste in general, also in our rivers and beaches and you made me think a lot about how to treat this problem here! Are you working with someone or with a company? How did you start in all of this? Great job!!

I’m always wondering… “What can I do?” I mean, I recycle and I don’t throw plastic in the ocean and that’s pretty much all it seems I can possibly do in my daily life.

Indonesia is such an interesting nation, ill go there one day, as a traveler not a tourist

Hello from Indonesia! Of course, I am embarassed our people still do this, but as you said, old habits die hard. It’s even more odd that some rich and highly educated people still litter. I also think that our waste management system has not been sufficient at all. Therefore, people who still wanted a degree of cleanliness usually burn plastic in their backyard so they won’t pile up, but we know this also pollutes the air at least. I hope we get better quickly. Thank you for coming and sharing your passion for the environment.
KuroVeera
Really lovely and good video! Thank you for doing this Dave, it really raises our awareness about this severe enviromental issue. But sadly it isn’t just Bali; in big cities in Indonesia like Jakarta or Bandung or anywhere else, there are still so many people who just throw away trash carelessly π Now if you don’t mind, I will share this video to my fellow Indonesian so that everyone else in Indonesia can watch your message π
