The Master Blender Initiative was raised from the pandemic effect.
Bali tourism industry and the island bartenders community have felt a huge economy hit since the world sanitarian crisis.

But no one could stop Bartenders resourcefulness and way to survive to craft their own Spirits, especially the local Balinese Heritage Spirits called Sajeng Ratteng or Arak Bali.

The spirits are distilled from fermented free running palm juice from sap of palm flowers, where the traditional Balinese distillation culture still applied today, preserving a moonshine kind of spirit. It is using only 3 varieties of palm juice ( Nyuh/Coconut, Ental/Lontar, Jaka/Arenga Pinnata).
These ancient Balinese spirits are commonly called by the elders Sajeng Rateng in local dialect.

Giffard Bali is proudly supporting this craft-cocktail movement and gladly encourage people to start appreciating the value of this native beverage.
Hoping that best practices both in production and sipping arak-based cocktails could leverage the position of these distinctive product to another level of recognition to one of the world most known unknown heritage spirit.

Inspired by the words of Sajeng Rateng a.k.a Arak Bali, a new wave of craft cocktails was born.

Yours Truly,
The Balinese Master Blender Initiative.
