Tatiana Roilean

I was thinking to go there, but now not sure at all. If this happen at middle of day, then what can happen at night? now I am scared to go to Bali

Tatiana Roilean

This month my friend went there, the taxi driver blocked her nose, just because she didn’t want to pay 5 times more than the real price. And the people around was just looking to that, and no one called the police. She went to hospital there they not aloud her to stay for 5 min to lay down to get rest after they first her nose.

Tatiana Roilean

oh Bali yes beautiful country can’t say anything. But can’t say the same thing about the people from that country, very agresive and not respectful at all to turists.

cherie cockburn

2 things on my mind. We are heading to Bali in September and want to know how do you work out the difference in the money. Somebody told me you take the last 4 zeros off the price tag. The other thing is we are booked into the four points by Sheridan at Seminyak so would we be better off to get driven into Legian and Kuta or do we walk. There is a few things we want to do at Kuta and have been told its a fair distance to walk

Copycat taxi! LoL
Now you can use Uber taxi, grab taxi or motorcycle taxi called GoJek, their rate are the best but remember, with this rate sometimes we need to “HELP” them a little. and 1 day ago uber just launched their motor taxi in Bali. Great news!!
For shopping tips you can bargain half price at least from what they offer you (don’t do this on branded store! :))
Have fun and welcome to Bali

do not do drugs or murder. firing squad.

Korean Air is racist. take out food, please check your food, or you will get empty shrimp shells and 2 shrimp in tact. your phone will be snatched, and pickpockets. carrofour has stale food. buy whole frit and not slices, for it is red in front and rind in the back. they tried to climb in my 2nd floor condo, but i busted them. Hotel Kuta. a few nasty Blue cab driver, who will quickly turn off meter, and say a higher price, when you arrive. They never have change, and watch for the counterfeit swap. write serial number down, and take picture of your bills. people very nice, but will disturb you by touching on the beach.

Gaia Sposito

I just saw this video, I wish I had seen in two years ago when I visited Bali, but thankfully i’ll go this year too. Anyways, Great Tips! I would probably add a useful tip is to bring an extra phone with you, so that you can buy a Sim there and call for cheap.

Some more tips: (I’ve been going to bali twice a year for 14 years)

1. don’t drink the water, head down to a supermarket or circle k and buy water (its cheap, around $1 for a litre) and when purchasing drinks with ice always check if the ice is made from bottled water otherwise it may be contaminated.

2. When catering prices at a shop just remember if they let you walk away without purchasing the item the price is really to low, luckily for you a shop a few doors up will have the same object and you know the price you should be offering

3. Dont barter prices at established shops/resurants

4. If you have leftover shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, hairspray etc- don’t be afraid to take them out to the locals who run the bars or sell there products on the beach they will appreciate them very much. (I always collect the samples the hotel leaves in the rooms each day and give them the locals)- this also goes for any clothes that your no longer going to wear when you return home

5. If you want to ride an elephant do it at Bali Safrai and Marine Park- the quality of the ride is longer and better, it is also much safer than the elephant parks and bali zoo in past experience.

6. Have fun and don’t be afraid!

Great resurants to try:
In Legian:
1. Kamala Pantai – Strip behind the Jayakarta Hotel
2. Seaside- trip behind the Jayakarta Hotel
3. Blue Ocean – trip behind the Jayakarta Hotel
4. Zanzi Bar- trip behind the Jayakarta Hotel
5. Billys- Found on a street off Garlic Lane
other:
– Potato Head
– Bali Hai Crusises- The sunset cruise has great food and very good entertainment (well worth the money)

if anyone has anymore questions don’t be afraid to ask 🙂

Now regarding to the visa on arrival fees, I think that they have abolished them for some citizens so that people from various nationalities do not have to pay $25 anymore. That’s what happened to me twice when arriving in Jakarta with my German passport

MrMarkb68

You can actually pay for the Visa on arrival in Australian dollars.
And the departure tax in now included in your airfares.

J S

thank you!!!!!

what is the porpose of going to Bali for holidays if you are only paranoiac of being ripped of by a local ? try somewhere safer and honest (if there is any in this word !) I was mugged by an English on a dubble decker bus in London 8 years ago, he took all my travel money and run away !!!

What is a good tip to give to hotel staff? If i offer someone a 10k tip is that too low? too high?

Ernest Jay

The most common scam in Bali is :

1. Taxi (compare to locals, they can charge tourist twice as much)
2. Street food (just like Taxi, tourist always get a higher price)
3. “Free hotels” brochure, don’t even read it, you will find someone offer you a brochure about “free hotels for few nights” or something like that, especially for backpacker tourist, in fact, they will forcing you to buy their stuff that you actually didn’t need or become a “member” for their “hotel group” to get a free hotel, but before you joint, you must pay a high prices for those “membership”

When you arrive in Bali you will see a big sign that say “drugs are punishable by death” it is no joke.

Don’t let someone you know back in Australia to ask you to bring a package for his or her mate’s in Bali unless you are sure what is the package. This excuse has been use by so many caught drug mules, the police will not bought your excuse for a second.

Drugs is a serious problem in Indonesia, Don’t temp to buy it everywhere in Bali because you might be in a sting operation by the police.

Always tell your mate or inform someone in your hotel, when you decide to do adventure off beaten track kind of tour especially from someone you meet on the street.

If you get stop by police if you renting a motorbike and they say your driving licence is not valid in indoensia, do ask politely for them to fine you instead but remind them that you already ask you embassy consulate regarding this and they say it is ok to use your country driving lisence. They will not able to fine you because they don’t know which law their going to use to fine you with in the first place and they only do it just to bluff you to bribe them. Unless your passport have a KITAS (working visa)in it, You are not oblige to apply Indonesian driving lisence. The quick solution to speed you time with the police after they bewilder with you, is to ask them are there any mistake that I have made? Just don’t make a scene about it, they will quietly let you go. If they insist on holding you lisence, please ask politely with smile his name and precinct, police ID card and fine document, because I will notify my embassy that you are holding my document. If he say why you ask for my police ID, say that you have been victimise by phony policeman two days ago.

Always put small change in your wallet and big change in your underwear.

TIP number #10 Don’t go to bali!!!!!!!!

muhammad ali

Very good tips!

Chuan Indo

One comment on the bargaining for stuff..be carefull when doing that, if they agreed with your price, you should buy the stuff..dont just walk off not buying anything, that would be offensive.. 🙂

Tina Fuaivaa

This is awesome , I’m planning to go with my partner for my 25th in June, a bit sceptical about going to different countries other than my own. How much would it cost roughly to go site seeing and all those places?

LoveMusic4652

Great video.
Thanks for posting. I am considering Bali for an upcoming vacation. I am female and will most likely be traveling solo. If you have any specific tips, concerns or recommendations,I will appreciate it. Thank you:)

Mirela Leoni

Nice tips! All of them. An update: Around Denpasar it is a very good and cheap public transportation now and for the blue bird taxi you said is the best, agree plus from my experience it is good also to make the hotel call you the cab in order to make sure that they will put the meter on. Even so, I had to ask the driver to put it. And yes: ALWAYS have changed money: they NEVER have any change.
The VOA tax is now 35 US dollars to enter Indonesia and I payed with my credit card as I only had 25 dollars, the rest of the cash in Euros. Exit September 2014 150 000 rupiahs.

Avanti Morocha

Great tips. Thanks 🙂

Scotty Boxa

Hey Brendan, It wont let me reply to your comment, but here goes.
Kuta: If your looking to mainly party / big shops
Seminyak: If your want slightly quieter, beach bars
Ubud: Laid back country /  rice fields and you just want to lay around and not do too much
Sanur: I havn’t been but told its very quite and nice.
Dreamland / Jimbaran: For surfing
Lombok: Suppose to be a really nice island how bali use to be before the tourist.

I hope that helps, you can also find some other Bali tips at http://www.destinationunknown.com.au/destinations/bali/
