Throwback to my time discovering one of Balis many hidden gems. The Pura Ulun Danu Bratan Temple, also called The Floating Temple, is a Hindu Shaivite Shiva temple set within the highlands of the mountainous Bedugul region. This temple was built in 1633, it is used for offerings ceremonies to the Balinese water, lake and river goddess Dewi Danu, due to the importance of Lake Bratan, also known as Lake of Holy Mountain, as a main source of irrigation in central Bali. The 11-storey Pelinggih meru (the principal shrine of a Balinese temple) is dedicated to Shiva.
