Unrelated I will say, I’m glad you realised who couldve booked flights more efficiently (pay more for less layovers/use layovers to explore the cities) but considering it was your first time travelling out of the country you did really well! It’s a lesson. Also, as a black, female traveler, I can say theres nothing “unsafe” about it. I think it’s one of the most liberating experiences you can have. Obviously you need to be wise about how you move, interact etc. But don’t let fear discourage you from having the experience (when you are ready and comfortable).

I can’t imagine all those different flights though, chile. I would’ve been extremely antsy. I went to Japan and it was a 5 hour flight from ATL to LA, and then a 14 hour flight to Osaka. The jet lag actually didn’t hit me that bad despite it being a 13 difference, but had I had to keep taking connecting flights, I probably would’ve been dog tired.
