Missing my baby sister today.

Missing my baby sister today. My sister is down in Melbourne, safe and snug as a bug with her puppy. But stuck and far away from muddy garden renewals, coffee in the sea breeze, waterfall seeking, and baked good smells from homemade packages. There is a subtle sadness there, in knowing I cannot just jump in a plane and hold her squished beneath my encapsulating arms. Many are far worse off, but it eeks in, in waves, in silent moments usually filled with giggles or plans unmade. There is a presence in the restriction. I know it is for the best. But that chill of sadness cannot be silenced, only felt and new plans made.
