Its the Journey not the destination.

Its the Journey not the destination.

As cliche as this quote may seem, Ive found so much truth in it while embracing this ever expanding journey; One without a destination.

Its easy though, to let our paths become destination oriented To live with an end game mentality.
Wishing it all to be dialed in so we can check out in comfort.

The longer I walk this path, I realize there is no end game; Its never done.

No matter what you attain.
Whatever goals you may achieve,

If you decide to disconnect;
To coast. To check out. To quit expanding…

Those feelings of restlessness, yearning for something more, will quickly return.

This is why the high of achieving a goal is usually short-lived.

While the progress towards a desire is nothing short of addictive.

Because thats what we ultimately crave Expansion.

That feeling of progress; of active involvement in each step towards an achievement.

The level up. The upgrade. The expansion.

I remember this sunrise. Not solely for the view but for the journey.

We could have hired a jeep. Could have gotten picked up directly from the accommodation while catching some shut eye on the way to the volcano and been handed a hot cup of coffee as we waited for the sun to come up.

A magnificent scene, sure. But probably a less than memorable experience.

Instead, when I think of this morning

I remember the 2 hour ride through the middle of the night. My motor bike practically falling apart. The winding mountain roads less than maintained. Frozen fingers that were numb to the bone. Riding across a sea of sand on the edge of a volcanic crater.

The sight of my breath in the crisp air under the clear night sky as I stopped to savor the stars…

And finding myself here. Rewarded. Overflowing with appreciation and breathless awe for the natural beauty found around this planet.

This is a little reminder to yes, know where youre going, but dont get so fixated on the destination that you forget to enjoy the ride.

With love,
JB
