I was blessed with the unique position of being the only white, non-native, person in the history of the temple in Ubud to observe this ritual in it’s purest form on a sacred new moon ceremony in 2008 . A local friend dressed me in traditional garb, snuck me in the temple and seated me in a place of prominence where i was bathed in blessings and tithes. I have sat with the buddhist monks in China, practiced gong fu in Taoist monasteries and climbed sacred mountains in tibet…none compared.
