Teatime (NOT in Bali) Quilt Tutorial | Let’s Make!

NSeiling

This is the first time I have seen any of your tutorials, but I am now a subscriber. Your word choice and communication skills are excellent. (I was a corporate trainer and bank VP before retiring and you, my dear, are good.)

Patricia Tsunoda

I’ve been watching a lot of your videos lately. I really like that you have so many patterns using one jelly roll. I’m on a personal quest this year to make 60 small quilts/blankets for charity to celebrate my 60th birthday year. I inherited a longarm machine and set it up with a 5 foot width due to space issues. These size quilts are perfect for me to learn longarming and speed up my production. Thank you for the wonderful instructions.

Elle Groover

Wish you would show the borders AND quilting. It’s anticlimactic cuz you always stop filming at a crucial point for many of us. Well, me any way. 😄

Gloria Schatz

Donna, I love the way you instruct us along on your tutorials! This block speaks to me because like others have said, no matching of the seams…yay!! Thank you again for another great tutorial.

Pooh

Wow, I really like the look of this quilt and the fact that’s is so fast to put together, makes great for gifts. Thanks for the tutorial, keep them coming. Love to watch your ideas come to life.

Erin Livinghouse

I have learned so much from you Donna – thank you so much for teaching me and inspiring me to pick up quilting – I’m hooked now! <3

Grace Brtkrz

Love this block in that you don’t have to match any seams. Also, like always, I love your choice of batiks. For those who don’t want to go and buy the strip tube ruler just use your regular one with the 45 degree angle. I have made this quilt before with my regular ruler.

Di Stuck

I love how she shows things in simple terms or steps and makes it so enjoyable to quilt!

Tessa Bonvouloir

I am in awe at how straight those fabrics come out! Love love it….The pattern is stellar…Thanks for another wonderful tutorial.

Sarah Cole

I enjoy making this style quilt in different sizes. Thank you for your show.

Denise Pineda

I love this pattern. As a new quilter, it is something I can put together quickly and easily. It looks fancy without a lot of effort on my part. I can’t wait to try this one out. Thanks for the tutorial.

Daniel & Hayley Anderson

Thank you! You have inspired me to make this for my mother. She’s going to love it! 😁

Connie Ferrell

I just found you and I’m so excited to get quilting again. Thank you for sharing your creativity.

Melanie Reed

Hi Donna – great tutorial, I love these fabrics and such a simple block – great for beginners and people who are not good at precise piecing (like me). I agree with the comment below… it would be interesting to see the rest of your process. Blessings to you, love all of your videos here.

Kathy Burda

Just gorgeous!! I love it. Thank you for your tutorials. Keep them coming. Will the pattern be available on your website?

Kim Mitchell

OMG I so love them colors those greens are! magnificent!!! Oh boy hubbies gonna be missing some moolah have to buy that jelly roll …. Great quilt Donna as always!!

Donna Dalelio

Hi Donna. I love this quilt and just started making mine. I’d like to know about the borders. Do you sell that fabric in yardage, and if so how much do I need of each and how much does it cost, please.

Denise Munn

I love your pre cuts because they are so perfect. I would like to know your secret to cutting so precisely. Any suggestions would be great.

Diana Gaudet

Love all your quilts. I’m learning so much from you. Thank you Dianacg

Rita Young

Thanks for sharing this tutorial with us. I really love the original version.

Sharon Carbine

Love this quilt, Donna! Thank you!!!

Beth Koch

Love the quilt; this one’s on my “soon to-do list”. I love all your videos, and especially the fact that you provide FREE patterns with complete cutting instructions, not like some demos that show how to assemble the quilt, but then it’s “go to our web site for complete measuring and cutting instructions (but by the way, the pattern will cost you)”. You guys are great! Can’t wait to stop by your shop on my next trip to Oregon.

claudette thomas

when the shops open I am going to make this Quilt. wonderful and very very good presentation. thank you

Donna Cohen

Diana Sillence

I can’t emphasize enough that YOU are THE best teacher I’ve ever seen to explain how to sew, cut, layout, easy tips, each step at a time!!! Love, love, love you and your husband “play” in the video!! You are BOTH the BEST!! Thank you so much!!

Cindy McFarland

You’re such a good instructor.

bobbie rankin

Ok, I messed up my first strip set. Should I order another pack of strips? I cut them wrong to start out with……

Jackie Hinz

Love your video’s. You make everything so understandable!!!

Eric Baxter

I have made something similar and really like this method. I now have that ruler, but have not made anymore tube quilts. I love that jade and blue and purple one!

Lucy Gray

Lord, girl, that machine sounds like a Harley !!!

Susan Proft

I would like to make a California king sized quilt using this idea!! How many jelly rolls would I need for this?? I do enjoy I just wish that I could make the volume a bit louder. I have my setting on my laptop as high as I can but it is still a bit low for my hearing!! Any suggestions.

Pamela Casey

Love the quilt in both color ways! Love the design the strip tube makes also! Love watching your videos!

Suzette Williamson

Love this quilt. Your work is beautiful! How would I make this without the ruler you have? Thanks!!

Linda Tonkin

I love that quilt! looks fast and easy to make. Love your videos.

A Needlepoint In Time

LOVE this one !! thank you

Sarah LaCroix

I recently came across this amazing video/pattern…. however I would like to make it large enough to fit a Queen Size bed…. How many blocks in each direction will I need? – This isn’t addressed in the pattern….. ? Please advise

Tineke Williams

Love it, thank you for the demo 👍

Robyn Bustamante

When are there going to be some one shows

RUBIAH HUSSIN

hi, I am from Malaysia, how can I get your supply of fabrics, I love quilting but not sure of materials suitable

Karen Tweedie

Really nice! But my thought about you not having the bend in your strips isn’t your hand pressing but using an industrial machine… when you have a normal machine those bends often happen… but other than that I truly love all your patterns and the way you teach us! Thank you!

Jo-Ann Sandstrom

Made this quilt out of spring colors and everyone that sees it wants it!!!!!

Trixie Stitches

Could this be expanded on to make a calking quilt?

vicki boschman

I could watch your videos all day long. Appreciate what you both are offering through these free demonstrations – you seem to have so much integrity and dedication to quality? I live in Canada where our dollar isn’t very strong so I don’t usually buy from the States. However I have placed my first order with you – love the pre-cuts and kits. Sometimes you just want to sew don’t ya?
Thank you.

Bev Gilby

Thank you!

Garden Warrior

Why are your videos not monetized? Love your tutorials. They are always interesting. I dont quilt because I dont have the space. But your projects are always on point. Also, who invented the jelly roll? Just curious.

Leonor Trujillo Suescún

Hermosisimo este trabajo felicitaciones y gracias por compartir tus conocimientos

These videos are so great!

Jayashree Wadekar

Hello, I would like to do this pattern. Is there any alternative for strip tube ruler? I have 10.5″ square omnigrid ruler. Is it possible to use it? Right now I don’t want to buy new ruler. Please suggest. Thank you.

I downloaded the pattern but it doesn’t give any information about using regular ruler with 45 angle.

Kika’s Nook

Gorgeous fabric colors !👏🏼

Joyce Burrill

Wonderful tutorial. I made the curved log cabin last week and followed your hints. Best log cabin I’ve ever made. I spoke to Matt on Sunday regarding sewing machines. I finally settled on Juki TL 2010Q. Semi industrial they call it. I hope it can handle the work load coming at it. My other machines wear can’t seem to keep up with the speed I want to quilt now. Thanks to Matt for his information and knowledge. He may be the most famous person I’ve ever spoken to. lol

Annie Rubyslipperz

What iron are you using in this video? I’ve wanted to buy a tank steam Iron and don’t know which would last the best =)

Love this block!!

Gorgeous!

Make sure to watch the most current (Aug 2020) video about this pattern. A few new tips. Very helpful!

karen mullenax

Nothing I have done with this quilt has turned out. My strips didnt end up 10.5. All the blocks are different sizes. 😭😭😭 this is my first quilt. I’ll finish it and try again lol

menofairy

I so love your videos because I feel like I am right there with you and it is so easy to understand

Evelyn Werker

On the tea time quilt does the second row start with the strip going in opposite direction

1HmSkTexan Lich

Where can I get a wide long ruler like yours? Thanks.

Rhonda Polk

I can do this !

Phyllis G

HI Donna
Which size Cozy Quilt stripe tube ruler should I purchase to make this quilt?

Dani Koch

For whatever reason when i went to cut this my tubes dont allow for a 7in square (across the middle) my seam allowances are correct… i dont know what’s up..

Peggy McCrystal

yet again most informative

Joanne P S

I love this and I can’t help wondering how this pattern would look in Kaffe Fasset materials! Wild!

Susan Parks

Bought a 2 1/2″ bali pop with 40 strips, made my strip sets and cut the blocks. However, I do not have 28 of each block. My strip set cut into 32 one direction and 24 the other direction. My throw will not be 7 blocks by 8 rows. You didn’t mention cutting the strips with some fold down and some fold up.

dawn7656

Great tutorial ! Where can I get one of those long “yardsticks”??  What is it even called?

Tawni Harper

You made this look easy for beginner thank you! Will it work with a 6 inch triangle, snd with a 40 strip jelly roll, what are the dimensions before adding a border? Thank you.

Jacqueline Pelayo

What kind of batting do you usually use donna?

Judi Ammar

I like the purple version. What is the name of the strip set?

Angeles Rabaneda

Maravillosa lección , gracias por explicar tan bien con tus manos , un saludo desde Málaga España

Sharon Martin

Thanks for the tutorial. I’ve made this quilt a few times but I always use a foundation, like clean newsprint or phone book pages. I’ve never seen it done in a tube before and it’s faster your way. The quilt is gorgeous in greens, I’m making my sister a quilt in greens right now, had I seen it done this way I would have made it fast and simple. The one I’m making has 1680 2″ finished HST. It’s called Jamestown Landing. I’ll be at it a long time.

Carol Clouser

I love your videos. There is only a few I follow and you are my main go to. Thank you so much.
